REACH is a European
Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC
1907/2006). It deals with the
Registration,
Evaluation,
Authorization
and Restriction of
Chemical
substances. The Regulation entered into force on 1 June 2007
and is being phased in over many years.
Since 1 June
2008, manufacturers and importers have been under obligation
to register Substances[1]
on their own, in Preparations[2]
or in Articles[3]
(under special conditions) prior to their manufacture or
placing on the market in quantities of more than 1 tonne per
year.
Registration under REACH is not required
by Concurrent Technologies Plc (the Company) because:
-
we do not manufacture, produce,
import, or export any Substances in quantities of 1
tonne or more per year
-
we do not produce or supply
Preparations
-
no Substances are intended to be
released from our goods under normal or reasonably
foreseeable conditions of use
According to the definition in REACH,
electronic assemblies, mechanical parts as well as
electronic items that the Company produces and sells are
Articles, thus the Company is an Article producer.
Suppliers of Articles must provide
recipients with information on Substances of Very High
Concern (SVHC) if those are present above a concentration
limit of 0.1 % on an Article level. SVHC is defined through
the list of candidate substances for authorisation that will
be produced by the European Chemicals Agency. The first SVHC
Candidate List was published on October 28th, 2008. With the
exception of the Articles listed in Table 1, none of the
Articles produced or sold by the Company contain these SVHCs
in excess of the 0.1% weight concentration limit.
