6U OpenVPX™ Single Board Computer features Intel® Core™ i7 processor
December 2010 – Concurrent Technologies announces a new 6U OpenVPX™ Single Board Computer to complement their range of embedded processor boards. Based around the Intel® Core™ i7 32nm embedded processor and Mobile Intel® QM57 Express chipset, the VR 737/08x offers high performance with low power dissipation delivering impressive Performance-per-Watt. Depending on bandwidth requirements a choice of processors are available: VR 737/080 features an Intel® Core™ i7-660UE 1.33GHz processor (800MHz FSB), the VR 737/082 features an Intel® Core™ i7-620LE 2.0GHz processor (1066MHz FSB) and the VR 737/083 features an Intel® Core™ i7-610E 2.53GHz processor (1066MHz FSB).
The VR 737/08x is a 6U VPX high performance processor board fully compliant with VITA 46.x standard, supporting up to 8Gbytes of soldered DDR3 ECC SDRAM, 3x Gigabit Ethernet ports, dual 1000Base-BX channels, 4x PCI Express® x8 lanes (supporting Gen 1 and Gen 2 data rates), dual SATA300 disk interfaces, DVI-D and DVI-I graphics interfaces, 6x serial UART ports, 5x USB 2.0, 8x GPIO and support for 2x PMC/XMC I/O modules all in a rugged 6U VPX 0.8inch slot form factor.
With support for VITA 46.6 Ethernet control plane, VITA 46.4 PCI Express® data plane and VITA 65 PCI Express® expansion plane, the VR 737/08x Single Board Computer offers all of the features demanded by rugged serial switched fabrics, serial differential signal transmissions, high transaction and aggregate services, all the while maintaining lower link latency and increased scalability.
The Intel® Core™ i7 processor features Intel® Direct Media Interface Technology and Intel® Flexible Display Interfaces to provide simultaneous high-speed graphic and non-graphic traffic. The processor also features Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology to allow multiple simultaneous execution threads in each core.

For ease of integration, the VR 737/08x supports many of today’s leading operating systems, including Linux®, Windows®, Solaris™, VxWorks® and QNX®.
For extreme rugged applications the VR 737/08x board is available in VPX-REDI variants (type 1 and type 2).
