Latest Intel® Core i7 processors available on new XMC Module

January 2011 – Concurrent Technologies announces a new single width XMC mezzanine processor board to complement their range of embedded single board computers. Based around the Intel® Core i7 32nm embedded processor and mobile QM57 Express chipset, the XP 732/x8x offers high performance with low power dissipation delivering impressive performance-per-watt. Depending on application requirements a choice of processors are available: XP 732/x80 features an Intel® Core i7-660UE 1.33GHz processor (800MHz FSB) and the XP 732/x82 features an Intel® Core i7-620LE 2.0GHz processor (1066MHz FSB).

With the trend for rapid prototypes and urgent operation requirements, the XP 732/x8x segments the processor complex onto an XMC module, allowing embedded designers to focus on the key features of the systems carrier board. This modular concept has the added benefit of providing future upscaling as higher performance processor platforms evolve.

The Intel® Core i7 processor features Intel® Direct Media Interface Technology and Intel® Flexible Display Interfaces to provide simultaneous high-speed graphic and non-graphic traffic. The processor also features Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology to allow multiple simultaneous execution threads in each core.

With up to 8Gbyte of soldered DDR3 ECC SDRAM and 4Gbyte of NAND Flash and options for dual Gigabit Ethernet or dual 1000Base-BX SERDES channels, two SATA150/300 disk interfaces, PCI Express® x8 lane or dual x4 lanes, DVI-D graphics, 2xRS232/422/485, USB 2.0, and GPIO the XP 732/x8x offers configurable functionality in a small form factor. Utilising XMC/PMC standards the XP 732/x8x is ideally suited to OpenVPX, VME, VXS and CompactPCI® host carrier cards.

Glen Fawcett, CEO of Concurrent Technologies, commented, “We continue to demonstrate our commitment to provide higher-performance lower-power products to the critical embedded market. This latest product will support the ongoing requirement for improved Performance-per-Watt, improved graphics performance, and ECC memory support.”

The XP 732/x8x is ideally suited to the PP XMC/M02 an XMC carrier card, which supports monarch and non-monarch mode.

For ease of integration, the XP 732/x8x family of boards support many of today’s leading operating systems, including Linux®, Windows® Server 2008, Windows® Server 2003, Windows® XP Embedded, Windows® XP, Solaris, VxWorks® and QNX®.
